Each year REI celebrates National Trails Day to help beautify local parks and trails, and this year REI is participating with SORBA Woodstock at Rope Mill Park to help build new mountain bike trails. These new trails are partially funded by an REI grant. We will need lots of hands to cut brush and trails, dig in the dirt, and spread mulch. There will be ample work for all ages and abilities. The first 200 participants will receive a wicking REI Volunteer T-shirt as well as a coupon for 15% off a full price item. Snacks and hydration will be provided, but you may also want to bring some extra water in a reusable water bottle. Canyons restaurant in Woodstock will be providing a lunch onsite after completion of the project. Volunteers should bring work gloves and wear long pants as well as closed toed shoes. If you have an extra steel toothed rake or garden hoe bring that along as well. Any participant with bee sting allergies should bring their Epipen.
This event will take place on National Trails Day, June 5th, from 8am to 12am, at Rope Mill Park in Woodstock. You must register in order to recieve the t-shirt and prizes from REI.
