Anybody that has ridden with Thomas Turner and Van Council at Blankets Creek knows these guys are animals. To put that in perspective, imagine starting in the parking lot and riding Van Michael, then Dwelling, then half of South Loop in 50 minutes. That's what Thomas did at the 2008 Dirty Duathlon at Blankets Creek. Did I mention he did it in the pouring down cold rain? Animal!
For those not familar with the La Ruta de Conquistador MTB race in Costa Rica, it one of the most brutal out there. 200+ miles of racing, 6000+ feet of climbing in the hot, humid jungle and high cold mountains across 4 days. To even finish is a feat. More info on the race here.
We had 3 Woodstock locals finish with stellar results. Thomas Turner, from Outspokin Bike Shop, finished 11th overall! Monte Hewitt finished 49th and Van Council (from whom the Van Michael Trail is named) finished 52nd overall and 2nd in his 50+ age class!
Awesome job guys! What a great way to represent!
